HUF-founder Keith Hufnagel grew up skateboarding in the gritty streets of New York City’s late-80s. In those days, skateboarding was simply not accepted: it was punk rock, it was hip-hop, it was a counterculture of outcasts misunderstood by the masses. It was a way of life that would ultimately shape Hufnagel’s outlook on life.
Back in the eighties, when the Western world was deluged by a wave of blue denim, Carhartt?s brown duck work coats entered the streets as an antidote. Detached from their original purpose of attiring hardworking men in mines and on railroad tracks, they arrived in our cities as some sort of new anti-denim. Soon after, through its cooperation with the European distributor Work in Progress, the American workwear classic would spawn Carhartt WIP.
We are in LA at the moment to visit the Agenda Trade Show and check out the City. One of the most important destination is the Fairfax Avenue. We went there and wanted to know more about this iconic street in Los Angeles.
